UNIT 0 CCR POND

Butte, Montana

WET completed the design of a Coal Combustion Residual (CCR)-complaint ash holding pond for a coal-fired power plant. WET collected topograpic data of the site and coordinated with a geotechnical engineer to evaluate sub-grade conditions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. WET’s design tasks included: grading plans to provide required storage capacity, design of a unique discharge pipeline to the plant’s existing settlement pond, assembly of permit applications, construction plans, construction specifications, and construction oversight support. The project was permitted under state and federal regulations, requiring a double-liner. WET evaluated the requirements and determined that an alternative liner system compliant with federal regulations would be the most cost-effective approach and designed the project accordingly. WET compiled and submitted all necessary certification documents in accordance with state and federal agency requirements.
