RONAN URBAN GROUNDWATER MONITORING

Ronan, Montana

The Ronan Urban Groundwater Monitoring Project has involved the installation and sampling of more than 30 piezometers and groundwater wells. The purpose of the investigation is to identify potential areas of environmental contamination that may be encountered during a large-scale highway improvement project. Groundwater monitoring has been conducted semi-annually to evaluate groundwater movement and characterize impacts to groundwater from historical sources of hydrocarbon contamination. Reporting involves summarizing annual results, evaluation of trends throughout the monitoring period, and producing maps depicting groundwater elevations and contamination isopleths.
