  • Permitting for State Highway Project

A Montana utility needed to relocate natural gas and electric distribution lines prior to the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) highway expansion project. Re-routing the electric distribution line involved replacing an underground cable, excavating holes and replacing poles. WET prepared, submitted, and secured a Montana Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (MPDES) Notice of Intent (NOI) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), a floodplain permit for the County Floodplain Administrator (included a scour report), a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Section 404 Permit, two Conservation District (CD) 310 permits, Navigable Rivers Land Use License or Easement with the DNRC, and a MT Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) 318 permit. In addition, WET personnel conducted bi-weekly or monthly site storm water inspections according to DEQ requirements, regularly reported on inspections to the utility’s staff, and maintained an Audit Ready Binder of all necessary documents/reports.
