    Everyone agrees that prevention is better than correction. Adequate planning and management often contribute significantly to the prevention or minimization of environmental releases and related events. WET has had an active role in helping farmers, agricultural organizations, and local governments to identify and implement proper environmental management practices.

     

    Managing concentrated biosolids has become an increasing concern due to potential impact on potable groundwater in many regions of the United States. As a result, the U.S. EPA has promulgated regulations targeting Concentrated Animal Feedlot Operations (CAFOs), which include dairy farms, poultry ranches, hog farms, egg farms, and other such facilities. WET has gained strong technical experience in managing high-nutrient waste materials for the EPA.
