2024 MONTANA INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT CARD

Learn About the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s Montana Infrastructure Report Card Project and its Role in Raising the Standard of Living in Montana

BACKGROUND—2018 MONTANA REPORT CARD

In 2018, industry experts across Montana assessed key infrastructure components of cities, towns, and communities. These components included bridges, dams, drinking water, energy, rail, roads, schools, solid waste, stormwater, and wastewater. From those assessments, Montana received a grade in each infrastructure category as well as an overall grade.

These grades provide a snapshot for residents and policymakers to facilitate discussions about funding for sustainability, planned growth, community resilience, and ongoing economic success within Montana. These grades are also crucial for highlighting areas where our state’s infrastructure is lacking, allowing for targeted funding and improvements across a wide range of infrastructure needs.

Since Montana’s 2018 Report Card was released, our state has experienced an unprecedented surge in funding.
