RECESS REDESIGN—PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT UPDATE

WET recently partnered with Butte School District #1 (the District) to reimagine and upgrade playgrounds at Whittier and Hillcrest Elementary Schools. The project achieved great results on a modest budget—creating safe, creative play areas for local students.
Our team conducted topographic surveys, prepared construction documents, engaged parents, and oversaw construction to turn these playgrounds from ideas into reality. Parents played a key role in the design, with surveys helping shape equipment choices and color schemes—ensuring the final spaces reflect the community’s vision.
Overall, the playgrounds were revitalized through careful design and budget-friendly planning. WET provided complete support from initial surveys to final inspections, ensuring every detail met safety standards and the District’s goals.
